Jousto Pole - Power + Comms + Compute

The Jousto Pole – Power + Comms + Compute brings together the three core infrastructure services increasingly required by intelligent equipment: power, communications and local compute. Designed for deployment almost anywhere, the platform combines autonomous solar generation and battery storage with 4G communications and an integrated Home Assistant Green edge controller. The power system incorporates a 475W Trina solar panel, 12V 100Ah battery, Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller, Victron BatteryProtect and protected multi-circuit DC distribution. A TP-Link TL-MR6400 provides 4G LTE connectivity and a local Ethernet network, allowing connected equipment to communicate with remote systems and cloud services. At the edge, Home Assistant Green provides a local automation and integration engine. This allows devices and sensors connected to the pole to continue operating and making decisions locally, even when the internet connection is interrupted. Home Assistant can integrate cameras, environmental sensors, Modbus devices, relays, lighting, alarms, weather equipment, gates, machinery and other IoT systems. Automations can be created around virtually any connected event. For example: A water level exceeds a threshold → send an alert. A gate opens outside operating hours → trigger an automation. Battery capacity falls below a set level → shut down non-essential loads. A sensor stops responding → notify the operator or power-cycle the device. The platform can subsequently be expanded with PoE cameras, AI monitoring, radar, LoRa, industrial sensors, environmental monitoring or additional edge-compute capability.
