Jousto is led by Denny Honen — a solar PV design engineer, accredited energy auditor, software developer (DaveCRM), and long-time energy efficiency evangelist with deep experience across solar, batteries, hot water and markets.
I once made an accidental auction buy: 5 bales of Pink Batts instead of 5 packs. I was lining a shed at my vineyard in the Barossa Valley — and it taught me first-hand how thermal efficiency changes comfort, performance and cost. That’s why Jousto starts with efficiency and right-sizing.
After Typhoon Yolanda, my company Optimus Energy Philippines supported a rebuild project with the Intel Foundation. We provided materials and installed solar — helping deliver the first reliable power and internet many students had ever experienced.
On Jomalig Island, staff were delivering babies at night using phone backlights and flashlights. We helped provide electricity and lighting — energy as dignity and safety.
I’ve been involved in 200MW+ of residential and C&I rooftop PV projects across Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Angola & Portugal, plus solar hot water since 2004 (including launching EcoSmart Hot Water for the ASX-listed GWA group) and contributing to battery design programs in Australia.
Jousto is shaped by my Finnish heritage. “Aarno” is my father’s middle name — the inspiration behind the character. It’s a nod to where I come from and what Jousto stands for: practical, resilient engineering.
